Stephen Ministry
Stephen Ministry is a one-on-one confidential care giving relationship with someone who is experiencing changes in their life including the loss of spouse, loneliness, accident, illness, separation, divorce, transition to nursing home, family member in prison, unemployment.
The Stephen Minister is a trusted companion to listen, support, encourage, and cultivate hope and healing. It is also, very much, a two-way relationship as each receives and gives much from the other.
The Stephen Ministers receive 50 hours of training with material produced by the national headquarters in St. Louis, Mo. Stephen Ministry exists in more than 9,000 congregations from 100 different denominations featuring 450,000 Stephen Ministers.
The next Stephen Ministry training session at Ascension begins April 24 on Tuesdays from 7:00-9:00 p.m. and will run through the first part of July. If you are interested, contact George Heberlein at 440.871.0938, Jean Jacubik at 440.235.0376, or Pastor Mark Viets at 440.777.6365. The valuable training materials also serve those who attend the training sessions in their every day relationships at home, work and leisure. Many consider the training a life-changing experience.
